With Christmas on its way we are offering our 2-volume book-set on Danish Furniture Design at a reduced price of € 140, – normal price € 230. The offer includes free worldwide shipping.

The English-language edition of Professor Arne Karlsen’s Danish furniture Design in the 20th Century was published by Dansk Møbelkunst Gallery and Christian Ejlers’ Forlag in 2007 and considered the definitive reference on the subject.

The book-set provides an easily readable, well-documented and detailed review of Danish furniture design in the 20th century. Each main section of the volume is consequently divided into two: a broadly formulated, illustrated part that describes the social and technical conditions for the furniture of the period, and a section with detailed images and working drawings that elucidates and analyzes selected pieces of furniture.

Volume 1 focuses on Professor Kaare Klint and the research-oriented Department of Furniture Design that he founded at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen thus describing the very foundation of modern Danish design.

Volume 2 focuses on the Golden Age that Danish furniture design enjoyed after the Second World War. The individual chapters cover the work of the most important architects and designers such as Hans J. Wegner, Finn Juhl, Arne Jacobsen, Poul Kjærholm, Børge Mogensen, Mogens Koch and Ole Wanscher. The text is supplemented with concise biographical information on a large number of designers and architects.

The offer is valid until January 1 2015, while stocks last. If you wish to purchase the Danish version, please let us know in the commentary box.

In our BOOKSHOP you also find posters depicting the most iconic Danish chairs and lighting, just as we offer a wide selection of catalogues on the work of 20th century designers and furniture makers. In the coming weeks we are launching four give-aways from the shop on our facebook page – remember to follow us HERE.

We wish you all a happy Christmas season.
