Finn Juhl

Rare ‘Pelican’ table

Designed in 1940. Presented at the Copenhagen Cabinet-makers’ Guild Exhibition the same year. This example made early 1940s.

The Pelican table is a significant piece as it is one of Finn Juhls earliest expressions of organic modernism, perfectly illustrating his sensitive qualities as an artist and designer. The table was never put into production, and the present table is one of only two known examples. It was specially made for a passionate Danish collector, who was personally acquainted with cabinetmaker Niels Vodder.
