Grete Jalk (1920-2006) was an important figure in the history of Danish design, both as a designer and equally as a mediator of Danish design history. She began her creative career as an apprentice at cabinetmaker Karen Margrethe Conradsen until she enrolled as a design student at the Royal Academy under the instruction of Kaare Klint. In 1954 she established her own studio, where she too worked with textiles, tapestries, and jewellery.
