Gunnar Nylund (1904-1997) was a highly influential Swedish ceramicist. He was born in Paris to a Finnish-Swedish father, the well-known sculptor Felix Nylund, and the Danish-born Fernanda Jacobsen Nylund. He studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen and started his career as a ceramist at the renowned Bing & Grøndahl Factory. In 1929, together with chemist Nathalie Krebs (1895-1978), he established the renowned Danish stoneware company SAXBO, but after two years he was recruited by the Swedish maker Rörstrand, where he served as artistic leader until 1955
